Bounce Houses

Bounce houses are a great way to get your kids out of the house and into the fresh air. It’s also a good opportunity to help them develop their social skills and create lasting friendships with other children. However, this fun activity comes with a risk of injuries. So, it’s important to take some safety tips and rules into consideration before renting a bounce house.

Rules To Follow

When using a bounce house it is important to follow rules to ensure the safety of all participants. These rules can help prevent injuries and misunderstandings, while still allowing everyone to have fun! First, the number of children allowed in the bounce house should never exceed what is outlined by the manufacturer. This way, the bounce house will not become crowded. Second, a bounce house should never be set up near power lines or tree branches. This can cause the inflatable to get tangled and potentially fall in or out of the area, which could be dangerous. Third, it is important to have a designated adult supervising the bounce house. This adult should monitor the activity level, putting a stop to anything excessive and making sure that children don’t break any of the other rules. Roughhousing and horseplay are the most common forms of bounce house injury, so it is a good idea to ban these activities from the start.

Weight/Size Limits

Bounce houses are a great way to have fun at parties, festivals, parades, and sporting events. However, they can also be dangerous if not used properly. For this reason, some municipalities have placed weight limits on bounce houses to keep children safe. These limits range from 100 pounds to 500 pounds, and they are meant to ensure that the bounce house is stable enough to hold the weight of those jumping inside it. If a bounce house is overloaded, it could collapse and send people flying, which would be unpleasant to watch. This could even lead to serious injuries for those inside the bounce house if they are not able to get out in time. The best way to avoid this is to choose a bounce house that is designed for larger people. These bounce houses have a higher weight limit and often include extra padding and safety harnesses.

Space Requirements

A bounce house, water slide or obstacle course requires a decent amount of space for safety reasons. Ideally, you want to allow for a couple of feet on each side so that kids can maneuver around the inflatable. You also don’t want the sides of the inflatable rubbing against anything in your yard, like a fence or a bush.  Most residential yards are good, but you don’t want a bounce house in a steep grade or on a hill. It’s a good idea to check the manufacturer’s specifications to make sure you’re getting the right size. Some of these inflatables are much bigger than others, so you’ll want to make sure that you have the space to set up the bounce house before committing to a rental. With the right amount of planning and a little foresight, you can turn your backyard into the neighborhood playground!
